How much time do I have to commit each month?
It's entirely up to you!
Our goal is to make volunteering easy for everyone. We offer volunteer opportunities with varying commitment levels - you can volunteer as much or as little as you like based on your interest and availability.
Does it cost me anything to volunteer on projects?
No - registering as a volunteer of Hands On Greater Portland is FREE.
But did you know that there is a monetary cost to connecting volunteers to meaningful opportunities and supporting nonprofit organizations? Some of our existing volunteers are our biggest individual donors. Please consider making a tax-deductible donation to support volunteerism and help make Hands On Greater Portland stronger!
After I become a member, how do I sign up for a volunteer project?
Click on "Ways to Volunteer" located above to get started. Once you find an opportunity that fits your interest and availability, click on "Sign Up" or "Express Interest" located at the bottom of the opportunity description.
You should receive a follow up email with directions and any other special instructions for the opportunity you selected. If you have questions, you can send an email to the opportunity coordinator, listed at the bottom of the opportunity description. Otherwise, your final step is to participate in the opportunity and have a great time while helping to meet an important community need!
